Introduction of the Lecturer：
At present, Professor Justin Tan holds the position of Newmont Chair in Business Strategy in Schulich School of Business, a tenured professor of management, and a special-term professor in Guanghua School of Management of Beijing University. His teaching and research field mainly deals with entrepreneurship and innovation, corporate growth theory, and strategic management. He has published dozens of academic papers in international tip-top learned periodicals (including a couple of Strategic Management Journal), involved in subjects such as ownership system’s impacts on business environment and strategy in transformation period. Moreover, he assumes the office of chief editor, associate editor, editorial board member or a judge in more than 10 major international academic journals.
Research on strategic management of China's electronics industry first published in Strategic Management Journal 1994 is the first empirical study on China's strategic management issues in the mainstream academic journals across the world, the pioneering study methods and results in which have been still widely quoted so far. His research won support from Ford Foundation and Chiang ching-kuo foundation of North America and 8 cases written by him had been accepted and recorded by Harvard Business School. He had made a lecture or taught EMBA course in Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Sun Yat-sen University, Fudan University, Xiamen University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Zhejiang University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, China Europe School of Management, Melbourne University, University of New South Wales, Singapore Institute of Management. Besides, he had provided advices and training for senior executives for many sectors of the society, including the World Bank, US Foreign Policy Association, Canadian International Development Agency, US HP Company, Walt Disney Corporation, General Electric Company, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, the Dow Chemical Company, Lucent Technologies, First National Bank, Tata Group, Panasonic, Hitachi Appliances, and Guangdong Kelon.
