As a response to invitation of the School of Management, Dr. Huang Tieyu, Senior Planner of Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Authority recently paid a visit. In the afternoon of the 26th, Yu Bo, the Dean of the School of Management, had an informal discussion at International Conference Centre with Dr. Huang on joint training of students in cooperation with several State Universities in Southern California.
In the morning of April 27th, Dr. Huang addressed a special lecture named “Green Building and Its System Development in the US” at Conference Room 216 of the School of Management. Sun Chengshuang, Dean of Department of Construction and Real Estate held the activity and faculties and students participated. Dr. Huang began the lecture with the connotation of green building and then introduced its developmental trend in United States in recent years. Dr. Huang also introduced the green building certification systems such as Energy Star, LEED, Green Rated and their application. In addition, Dr. Huang elaborated the policies and incentives of U.S. governments and energy Agencies at all levels. At last, Dr. Huang made a rough introduction on how to build a green industry. We can draw lessons from U.S. experiences in green buildings and their certification mentioned in Dr. Huang's lecture to build a green building system in China. After the lecture, Dr. Huang Dr. took students' questions with great interest and gave a patient answer from the point of view of an expert in the field.
Dr. Huang Tieyu is an internationally renowned expert in the field of urban development and redevelopment, who has accumulated more than 40 years of experiences in academic research and practice of urban development, such as planning and design, construction management and public policy making; Dr. Huang Tieyu founded and has presided over the California Institute of Environmental Design and Management ( CIEDM ) for more than a decade and frequently gives lectures to the mass majority, professional colleagues, enterprises and Chinese training groups sent to America; has worked for 25 years in Community Redevelopment Authority of Los Angele, the second largest city in United States; takes charge of the reconstruction planning and project development in old liberated areas and disaster-stricken areas, and cooperates with famous American firms to conduct urban transformation and sustainable development of the city center. |
