Professor Paulo Goes, the world famous scholar in the field of MIS, is the editor of top management journals MISQ and the head of the Management Information Systems Department at the Eller College, University of Arizona. On Oct. 8th, he will come to visit HIT at the invitation of Professor Ye Qiang, the Associate Dean of SOM. And will give a lecture and introduce the collaborative project between SOM and UA. Abstract: The fast evolving realm of Web 2.0 applications has brought about a variety of new applications, marketplaces and business models. User participation strategies are influenced by several factors, including economic incentives, technology response and social interactions. Understanding specific participation behavior is fundamental to the sustainability of the different applications and environments. This presentation will overview current research efforts that focus on observed participation data to model user behavior and participation strategies in a variety of web environments: online knowledge exchange, online crowd sourcing, online product reviews, e-marketplaces and online auctions.

His research has appeared in several journals including Management Science, Management Information Systems Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of MIS, Operations Research, INFORMS Journal on Computing, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Computers. Dr. Goes has been Senior Editor of Information Systems Research, and is or has recently been Associate Editor of Management Science, Decision Sciences, Journal of Management Information Systems, Production and Operations Management and the INFORMS Journal on Computing. He has also been elected as the editor in chief on Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ) since 2012.
