From 8-9 June, 2012, the AMBA assessment delegation, chaired by Professor Andrew Lock, carried out a two-day on-site assessment of the School of Management. The other members of the AMBA assessment delegation include Professor Martin Jones, Professor Zhongming Wang and Mr. George Iliev.
During the two-day assessment visit, the AMBA delegation examined the HIT SoM documents in the Base Room and talked with the HIT President Mr. Shuguo Wang and the Vice President Ms. Xuemei Ding. The AMBA delegation also conversed with the Dean of SOM Bo Yu, associate deans, master program directors and representatives of the MBA/EMBA faculty, students, alumni and employers. The AMBA delegation also toured the teaching facilities on campus, including the university library and the university museum.
After deliberation, the AMBA delegation recognized the quality of HIT’s MBA and EMBA programs, rated the HIT self-audit documentation as concise and informative, and highly commended the efforts made by the SOM staff during accreditation. The delegation announced that SoM of HIT had passed the AMBA on-site certification assessment and decided to recommend a five-year accreditation to HIT’s MBA and EMBA programs. The delegation also offered recommendations and suggestions to the further development of the SoM.
AMBA, together with EQUIS and AACSB, are regarded internationally as the three most authoritative accreditation systems on business education. The AMBA accreditation of HIT’s MBA and EMBA programs, first in the northeast region of China, will be pivotal to promote International competitiveness of HIT’s MBA and EMBA education, to improve the SoM’s educational system and to build the SoM into a first-class business school up to international level.
