On the afternoon of May 30th, sponsored by MBA Center in the School of Management and hosted by 09 MBA Association, a career guidance lecture with the theme of “Celebrating the School Anniversary, Cooperating with Headhunting and Practicing the Wisdom for the Wise” was held successfully in Room 408 of the Science Park 2H. Director of MBA Education Center QIAN Guoming and LI Xiaoli, Secretary-general of MBA Association ZHANG Jun, Minister of Public Relations Department YANG Qi, Minister of Sports and Entertainment GUO Hao, Minister of Organization Department LIU Yang and Minister of Academic Department MA Bin attended this lecture. Minister of Career Development Department LI Changfu presided over the lecture and WU Hongyan, manager and talent consultant of Harbin Hanlin Enterprise Management Consultant Ltd. was invited to give the lecture as distinguished guest.
The lecture started with a speech of Director QIAN Guoming. In the speech he pointed out that this lecture was not only the first big event in 2010 hosted by HIT MBA Student Association, but also the first career guidance lecture specially for MBA students in HIT. There was no doubt about the excellence of HIT MBA students. He expected to work together with headhunting to introduce more good corporations including foreign-funded company, sole proprietorship and state-owned company to MBA students and provide wider development space for them.
In the lecture, Miss WU Hongyan firstly told everybody about the origin of the word “headhunting” and the development of headhunting company in
China
. As a borrowed word, “headhunting” referred to those people who cut the enemy’s head as a trophy in the first beginning, while now it refers to people searching talents. In other countries, this is a very popular way of recruitment. The targets headhunters always chase are on those people with three “highs”: high education, high position and high price. Professionals and talented managers with high education, rich practical experience and excellent performance turn to be much easier to become their targets. Headhunting has been in

for about ten years so far. With
China
’s reform, opening up and influx of a large number of foreign-funded enterprises, Chinese headhunting industry subsequently sprouted into the stage of exploration and rapid development, and some headhunting firms appeared dependent on Chinese mainland. The emergence of headhunting service promotes the flow and rational allocation of human resources in the social and economic system. Headhunting has become an important channel for the acquisition and flow of senior talents, and gradually turned into a kind of industry.
Next, WU told students about how to conduct effective and correct career planning. The first step lies in clear career anchor, including hobby, strength, personality, knowledge, skill, IQ, EQ, model of thinking, thinking method, morality and social self. Secondly, you must have a clear explanation for your dimission. Is it the matter of salary, working environment or the working style of leaders? Thirdly, specialty and strength must be highlighted in the resume. In addition, it is very important to provide fixed contact information so that the headhunting or employer can come into contact with you in time when suitable positions are available. At last, she talked about something to pay attention to in the interview. For instance, you must not keep talking all the time, steal the show, dress improperly or cheat people. At the same time, the interviewer may focus more on your quality and background such as the reasons for your dimission, presentation skills and family environment.
As to jobs, Miss WU offered two suggestions. The first is the reason to choose a job, which requires caution in choosing, and the second is the reason to stick to what you choose. What it takes to success is to stick to the job you choose. In the end, Miss WU gave MBA students some advice and encouragements. Everybody will have his or her own profession, in which great passion is the best teacher and responsibility is the fundamental requirement. Everybody has his or her own habit, for which character is the best benchmark and quality is the basic demand. Reflect and improve yourself from time to time, try to adapt to the large social environment and small corporate environment and achieve success in your own career.
This lecture lasted for one hour, and attained desired objectives. The results turned to be sound and favorable.
